Teacher profile

Full Name:

Bella Hancock

I first practiced Yoga as a child. My interest in Yoga, dance and movement grew throughout my teens and early twenties. I was fortunate enough to attend classes in both Yoga and contemporary dance at high school, and then practiced for many years on and off until I undertook the commitment to train as a Yoga teacher and deepen my study of Yoga and meditation in 2000. I trained with Charlie Stevens and Marianne Gabriel in their school, Contemporary Yoga in Cork, Ireland (www.contemporaryyoga.ie). From this foundation of classical Hatha Yoga, rooted in the Sivananda and Kripalu traditions, I went on to study and explore other styles of Yoga that inform my practice and my teaching. I have studied with Internationally renowned Scaravelli teachers Diane Long and Sophy Hoare, Donna Farhi, Uma Dinsmore- Tuli, Nirlipta Tuli and have a strong connection to the teachings of Swami Satyananda Saraswati and have practiced and studied with teachers of this lineage. I have also studied Iyengar Yoga, and other movement practices such as Feldenkrais, Somatic movement and Qi Gong . I also teach Womens dances from the middle east. I have always been drawn to Women's health, supporting women through the life transitions, working for 12 years as a Doula, and co-founding a moon lodge which met for 18 years. I did a Yoni Shakti retreat with Uma in 2010 and had never felt such a deep nourishment from Yoga before.. I came away shining ..and in 2012 did the Womb Yoga training. I am eternally grateful for this practice in my life, and for being able to share it with other women. I run weekly Womb Yoga classes in West Cork, and regular Women's retreats , Yoga days etc around Ireland and beyond..and love to collaborate with other creative and inspiring teachers. I also teach Yoga Nidra and restorative Yoga. Since 2014 I have been involved in a project that I initiated with a small NGO, bringing Yoga to refugees from Syria and Iraq. We provide training, womens Yoga , classes ,and are currently working on a trauma sensitive Yoga protocol for vounteer Yoga teachers.
