Teacher profile

Full Name:

Saori Funawatari

Saori was introduced to Yoga when she first moved to London in 2002 and has become a keen practitioner ever since. After years of Yoga teaching experiences, she has undertaken the pregnancy teacher training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Lisa-Victoria Lulu under the Yoga Campus specialist course. She constantly keeps learning about Yoga to develop a deep understanding of Yoga history and philosophy that relates to both body and mind, as well as learning the different styles of Yoga. She has been practicing and teaching various styles of Yoga, such as Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, Rocket, Hatha, Yin, Dharma Yoga. While taking the pregnancy training, she was drawn into the huge mindfulness and kindness which she has started introducing it to her teaching. She aims to teach students opportunities to learn comfortable breathing techniques and an appreciation of our present state of being to prepare for the labour in her yoga class for Pregnancy. Her style with flow of movements (Asana) with effortless breath gives nice stretches and strengthening the arms and legs to support the weight of the unborn baby (or babies) and for the later period when you will be carrying the baby on your arms so often, in the safe way. Saori’s approach is rooted in the style of Vinyasa and Hatha Yoga combining physical pose (asana), breathing (pranayama) and long relaxation at the end of the class. She uses a non competitive approach for every participant to allow them to work their own physical and emotional sides. Saori shares her knowledge with all students to remove any attachments (thoughts and fears that may bring negative energy) and instead brings kindness and love into their lives by honouring own heart and inner teacher. Love and Peace, Namaste.
